Check your calendar, wheel out the senior-citizen jokes, and prepare for a night of vintage rock ‘n’ roll: The Rolling Stones will play Comerica Park on July 8, the band’s first Detroit show in a decade.
Details were announced at a media event this morning in the stadium’s Tiger Club, Jasa Roll Plat with Detroit Tigers mascot Paws joining Olympia Entertainment officials for the festivities.
“This is a band that doesn’t tour a lot,” Jasa Roll Plat medan said Olympia president Tom Wilson. “This could be the last time we have a chance to see them.”
The Stones’ 15-city Zip Code Tour will kick off May 24 in San Diego, with tickets going on sale April 13. American Express card holders will have access to a pre-sale starting April 8.
Tickets are $69.50-$350 and will be available at tickets.com.
It will be the band’s first Detroit concert since August 2005 — also at Comerica Park — which preceded the class’s Super Bowl halftime set at Jasa Roll Plat medan Ford Field the following February.
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will both be 71 when the band hits Detroit, fronting a core Stones lineup that includes drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ron Wood.
The Stones’ visit caps what is shaping up as an especially busy stadium summer on the Detroit concert calendar, with several shows planned at Ford Field — including Taylor Swift, AC/DC and One Direction — and a Zac Brown Band stop at Comerica on Sept. 12.
Wilson described it as the busiest season for downtown entertainment “in three or four decades.”
